The word “Lust” is defined as a strong desire for sex when love is not involved. Lust is caused by lack of self-control when people (men and women) are not satisfied with what they have or see. We are admonished to be careful and to always focus on God. Lack of focus on God causes us to lust. Many Men of God fell aside due to lack of self-control. David lusted after Uriah’s wife (2 Samuel 11). God said that He is our God and He would not forsake us. We forsake Him when we go contrary to His word. An example of lust of the flesh is indecent dressing by some people. Some Pentecostal Churches allow their parishioners to address indecently for services. Some parishioners wear see-through dress to Church and they cause others to sin. God admonished us in I Corinthians 7: 2 that “each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband”. If we allow the word of God to guide us, we will not fall prey to lust. Some parents do not have time for their children. Some Christians belong to secret societies. I Cor. 6:18 says that “All other sins a man commits are outside his body but he who sins sexually sins against his own body”. Finally the bible says that “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (I John 2:15).

Peace with all people, Holiness with God

Holiness was derived from the text - “Pursue peace with all people and holiness without which no one will see the Lord (Hebrew 12:14)”. He said that God’s love, mercy power, justice, glory and all his character reflects his holiness (Isaiah 6:3, Leviticus 11:44, 1 Peter 1: 15 – 16). He said that prominent men in the bible such as Moses, Job, Daniel, Elijah Elisha, Enoch and Jesus Christ distinguished themselves as holy. The benefits of living holy are: 1) access to presence of God and having relationship with him; 2) presence of the Holy Spirit; 3) holiness guaranties enjoyment of spiritual, financial and medical facilities; 4) holiness guaranties eternal life; 5) holiness guaranties healthy living; and 6)holiness delivers peace.God would give us the grace to be holy as we submit to him, obey him and flee from sin. There is victory in holiness. This is a fact that many do not know of holiness and their ignorance makes them continue to live as fake Christians. As a matter of act, you are either holy or sinful and no sinner will make it to heaven. For this reason Jesus came to destroy the work of the devil in our lives. You are righteous and holy by grace. This grace is why we must not boast because it is not you but Christ that lives in you.Finally if you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savoir, you are at the right starting point. From there, God will give you the grace to be holy as you summit to Him, obey Him and flee from sin.
